Introduction to Oracle Business Process Models
Business process management includes a set of activities that organizations perform to either optimize their business processes or adapt them to new organizational needs. Important elements include business process modeling and analysis (BPA), orchestration (BPEL), and business activity monitoring (BAM). This session focuses on the BPA element and outlines Oracle's approach, methodology, and business process models, along with suggested uses for those models.
Patricia Krebs will host this session. Pat is Oracle’s Director of Business Process Engineering and is responsible for the definition, control and oversight of Oracle’s application business processes. She has been responsible for the business process models for PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, and now Oracle. Oracle has established a process-centric application development lifecycle that uses business process metadata throughout the lifecycle. Business process definitions include roles, which are used to define the application role-based access controls. The business process models are also used to design BPEL-orchestrated processes, which allow a business user to communicate orchestration details to a BPEL engineer.
Pat has worked in the business process domain for many years in the Healthcare, Higher Education and High Energy Physics industries. She was an operational auditor for several government contractors prior to joining PeopleSoft 10 years ago and subsequently joining the Oracle team. She has a B.S. in Accountancy from Ferris State University and is a licensed CPA and CISA.
