Business Process Execution Language (BPEL) – Wave to the Future
Business processes have for a long time been an integral and important part of leveraging and managing ERP applications. All the major applications (Oracle, JD Edwards, PeopleSoft and SAP) have spent a great deal of time mapping business processes to the software processes. During the later 1990s there was an extensive movement towards standardizing an execution language that could be deployed over multiple applications. Oracle utilizes BPEL in the execution of processes within and across multiple applications to meet business requirements. With the addition of JD Edwards and PeopleSoft applications to the Oracle product line, there is a need to understand how this impacts the integration of applications for the future. The presentation provides an overview of what BPEL is and what it currently does, along with an understanding of how this impacts the future regarding integration and Oracle’s Fusion initiative. This session will be conducted by Solution Beacon's Paul Cyphers. Paul has over twenty years of extensive applications implementation experience for five major software packages: Oracle, PeopleSoft, J.D. Edwards, Siebel and SAP. He has led development methodologies for other solution initiatives such as Program\Project\Change Management, Quality Management, Enterprise Performance Measurement and Business Process methodologies. Paul has also led cross-functional international teams developing new and upgrading existing content for applications to be deployed on global implementations. Prior to joining Solution Beacon LLC, he held methodology director, senior consultant, project manager, systems manager, production supervisor and several materials management positions. Paul can be reached by email at pcyphers@solutionbeacon.com.
