  • Session 1
October 24, 2007 9:00 AM U.S. Eastern (New York) Time
All in the Family – Blending Outsourced Staff into a High Performance Technical Support Group
As a cost saving measure, an international telecommunications company, “the client”, outsourced the entire IT department. Staff were separated into three categories: core (resident in US with the clients), near-shore (located in Canada) and off-shore (in India). What measures worked to assist remote staff in adopting the previous excellent support ethic? What are the needs of our remote staff? What are our major obstacles? How can we tell - they've 'got it'? We will discuss key secrets of a responsive support/development staff: server infrastructure, Development DBA relationships, understanding business functions, establishing roles and responsibilities, expert reviews, specializing by application and teaming with users. Client evaluations, interactions and reactions - it's a lot more than just customer satisfaction surveys. Assuring that customers actively set priorities and IT support staff are in sync with these. What automated tools are used to facilitate communication?

Presenter, Company: Patty McGrath, BT Americas
