  • Session 1
January 16, 2008 12:00 PM U.S. Eastern (New York) Time
Project Control System: One Stop Project Creation
“First I Create the project, its tasks, no wait the customer needs to be set up first, darn, now I need a budget. Heck, I’ll just do this they old way and not use Oracle Projects.” Sound familiar? Burns & McDonnell has 1000+ project mangers that we feared would skirt our investment in Oracle Projects. Therefore, we created a no excuse system that is simple to use and enforces Burns & McDonnell’s business rules. Therefore, our project managers only navigate to one form where they can create, maintain and view their projects from there. Included in the paper will be a discussion on what workflows and API's are used for interfacing the data into Oracle Projects. Now, our users wondered how they ever lived without Oracle Projects and the PCS tool! This presentation will cover the layout of our Project Control System (PCS). Our PCS system is a simple approach to entering and adjusting project data. My presentation will discuss and show how the end users use our PCS tool. Yet the written paper will have the technical detail you need to start a design and create your own PCS system. This paper will benefit all parties involved in Oracle Projects, Users and Developers alike.
