OAUG Sites and Systems Instructions

Thank you for taking the time to update your organization's sites and systems. The intent of this document is to provide assistance for you as you update your member information. Having accurate and up-to-date information is crucial when a member is trying to contact another member with similar hardware platforms, operating systems, version and Oracle Applications installed.  It also helps qualify you for Special Interest Groups in which you may be interested.

What do you mean by "Sites and Systems?"

Each user member company has a certain number of "Sites," or locations at which they have Oracle Applications installed.  "Systems" refer to the computer hardware installed at that location.  A number of Oracle Applications have been installed on each system.

At OAUG, we capture the following information:

SITE  A location at which one or more Oracle Applications are installed.

SYSTEM  The actual computer hardware on which Oracle Applications are installed.  A site may have one or more systems.

Example

Sample Scenario:  ABC Company runs AP, AR, and GL on a Dell PowerEdge server running Windows 2000 Advanced Server.  They have affectionately named this server HOMER.  HOMER resides in their corporate headquarters in Spokane, WA.  ABC Company completed their upgrade from 10.7 to 11i in the Summer of 2002, and there are currently 125 people who use the applications on this server.

Jane Doe, ABC Company's Key Contact, wants to update her Sites and Systems information, so she logs into the OAUG application and performs the following steps:

  1. To add a site, Jane clicks the "Edit Sites and Systems" button in the lower right of the subnavigation at the top of the page.
  2. She clicks the "Add Site" button and enters the following information:

    SITE NAME:  Corporate HQ
    CITY:  Spokane
    STATE: WA
    COUNTRY: USA
  3. She clicks the "Save Site" button to commit the site she just created to the database.
  4. To add a system to the site she just created, Jane clicks on the "Corporate HQ" name in the "Sites for ABC Company" table.  This brings up the site she just created.
  5. She clicks the "Add System" button and enters the following information:
